Surprising Red Bull Triumph at Shanghai
Red Bull celebrated their first win in the still young season courtesy of Daniel Ricciardo. In the Chinese GP, the Australian made it to the top step, with Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) completing the podium. Sebastian Vettel, winner of the first two GPs of the season and Räikkönen’s teammate, had to settle for finishing eighth as he lost a lot of time due to a collision caused by Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen. Nonetheless, Vettel still holds the lead in the championship standings. Meanwhile, the battle for the constructors’ title couldn’t be closer, with the Scuderia and the Silver Arrows title being virtually tied for the lead (Mercedes 85, Ferrari 84). And RAVENOL partner Force India scored their first manufacturers championship points in the season, at Shanghai.
The competition in a high-tech motor sport, on a high-end level, forces the engineers to permanently enhance the technology used and take it to the next level. A goal all the Formula One teams are working hard for. The Sahara Force India F1 Team’s single-seater for the 2018 season, for instance, the VJM11, is powered by the same Mercedes M09 EQ power+ engine as the 2018 Mercedes works cars. An engine that proved to be extremely reliable in all the three GPs contested to date. Motor-racing engine oil experts RAVENOL who can hark back to more than 70 years of experience when it comes to high-quality lubricants for a variety of different applications are the ‘Official Lubricants Partner’ of Team Sahara Force India that can look back on 10 years of successful F1 history. This intense technical partnership is visually underlined—among other things—by the RAVENOL logotype on the car, the driver overalls, and the team gear.
The next race will be held on April 29th at Baku, Azerbaijan, at 16:10hrs (local time). And from July 20th to 22nd, Formula One will make its Hockenheim stop, allowing German motor-racing enthusiasts the chance of witnessing the race action at the pinnacle of motor racing at the Hockenheimring live on site.
