The Rally Circuit of Ireland is not only one of the oldest rallies in the world, it also is one of the most prestigious and most beautiful ones. Last weekend, Opel Motorsport was delighted with the results achieved in the tradition-rich event. Opel Motorsport contested the rally with three Opel works drivers (ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team and Opel Rallye Junior Team) in the FIA ERC Junior and two of them made it to the podium in the season opener.

The ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team Drivers:

• Marijan Griebel (26) – class winner in the 2015 ‘ADAC Rallye Deutschland’ 
• Julius Tannert (25) – 2015 ADAC Opel Rallye Cup Champion

About the Opel ADAM R2

All three drivers and their co-drivers contested the event with an Opel ADAM R2. Equipped with a normally aspirated 1.6-litre 16V four-cylinder engine (code number A16XER) designed and developed in cooperation with race-engine manufacturer Spiess, the ADAM R2 features a variable camshaft adjustment and produces – at 7,750 rpm – a maximum torque of about 190 Nm. The compact rally cars are run with the specially designed motor-racing engine oil RAVENOL RSS 10W-60. Due to its high viscosity index, is good shear stability and a highly efficient additivation, the fully synthetic high-alloy oil based on esters and poly-alpha olefins is particularly well suited for an extremely racy style of driving – even in the most gruelling conditions. Compared to its production sister, the modified R2 version of the Opel Adam features lighter pistons, special camshafts and valve springs. Also modified for the use in rallying are the flywheel, the intake system in front of the throttle valve, the exhaust system including the manifold, the ECU – and in addition, all the performance relevant mappings also were adapted.

The power transfer is executed via a sequential Sadev five-speed gearbox STC75-14 with limited slip differential – and the high-performance gearbox oil RAVENOL Racing Gearoil makes for the lubrication you need in the demanding rally sport. At the same time, the radiator coolant RAVENOL OTC – Protect C12+ Concentrate makes sure that the engine keeps its cool in every situation. The special hydraulics oil RAVENOL SSF is used for the electro-hydraulic steering of the Opel ADAM R2 – an EHPS Type steering supplied by the manufacturer TRW – and makes for a perfect steering performance even at high speeds. The technical specifications and the lightweight body with integrated safety structure turn the OPEL ADAM R2 into a solid, brisk rally car that truly has got what it takes to raise a lot of dust, with its 16-inch EVO Corse aluminium wheels.
